Course Outline

Our courses provide a robust and knowledge-rich approach to achieving QTS and a PGCE at an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ SCITT, based in the heart of London.

Our ITT professional training programme has been designed to allow graduates the opportunity to take responsibility for a small number of their own classes from the start of the academic year, whilst receiving high-quality mentoring and training. As the year progresses, you will be given the opportunity to increase the number of classes you are responsible for. You will undergo a bespoke programme to meet your own individual needs.

We look to recruit teachers with depth of subject knowledge, intelligence, courage and energy. Career progression at Future Academies depends upon what you do and what you know rather than length of service. We do everything we can to ease the burdens of administration and marking to enable all teachers to find their jobs joyous and rewarding.

At Future Academies, we foster a working environment in which knowledge and intelligence are lauded and rewarded, and we constantly look for ways to encourage teachers to develop their own knowledge and understanding and to share that knowledge with their colleagues and students.

Those who successfully complete the Future Training programme will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE accredited by the Institute of Education at UCL.

 What will the programme include?

  • Induction All Future Training student teachers attend our induction programme and spend two weeks at Pimlico Academy during July 2017. This allows student teachers to meet their peers, to begin to engage with some key issues in teaching, and to familiarise themselves with the school department in which they will be based for the year.
  • Comprehensive Mentoring Each student teacher is assigned a subject tutor and subject curriculum lead to mentor them through the year and to ensure they meet the Teachers' Standards.
  • Professional Studies Programme delivered by external academics and expert teachers.
  • Individual Training Plan built around your needs.
  • Library Resources at Pimlico Academy as well as IoE.

"In order for school experiences to be as effective as possible, trainees need built-in opportunities to observe good and outstanding teaching"

- The Carter Review (January 2015)
