We deliver QTS training for Researchers in schools (RiS), the world’s first teacher training programme designed uniquely for PhD graduates. RiS recruits researchers, places them as trainee teachers in state schools and supports them to develop as excellent teachers and research leaders, who are committed to closing the gap in attainment and university access.
RiS is a salaried two to three year programme (three years for maths and physics) that gives participants one day per week ‘off-timetable’ which they use to deliver the RiS Uni Pathways Programme to talented pupils in their subject and to maintain an academic profile alongside their classroom teaching.
Applications are open to researchers who have already completed their doctorate, or will have done so by the August of the year they want to start their teacher training. Furthermore, candidates must also have a grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE English and Maths and be eligible to work in the UK full-time from 1st September 2017 and for the duration of the programme.
